I get so much email from a guy who helps people in my industry grow their businesses. Mostly it sits in my inbox until it gets moved into a folder marked “TO READ” —and then I forgot about it... The other day I opened one.
And behold there were valuable treasures inside! I wasn’t actually surprised to find helpful content. I wasn’t failing to read his emails because I thought they wouldn’t serve me. I was ignoring his emails because I wasn’t adequately valuing time spent on my own business. And that’s what this email was about!
For your business to grow and thrive you need to “Treat yourself as your favorite client.” You need to value the time you spend on yourself and your business as much, if not more, than client time. I made a sign for my desk so I don’t forget.
