When my daughter starts a new school year it feels like a time of new beginnings for me too. I’ve been celebrating by sprucing up my work space.
I share my office with my art studio so it can get a little out of hand. I collect things with which to make my art. Then my work tables get piled up with these supplies, tools, and projects half-finished. I like that this space feels so “creative.” But lately I’ve been noticing that it’s gone beyond creative to feeling pretty messy.
I’m someone who’s greatly affected by my environment. I put a lot of effort into keeping my home as sanctuary-like as possible. Having an efficient, clean, beautiful, and pleasant place to do my work means a lot to me. When I’m comfortable in my space, I’m more inspired and relaxed. I can focus on the task at hand, while feeling great too!
Today it’s dark and rainy — a treat we don’t often get here in Colorado. I’m cozying up with a cup of tea at my lovely tidy desk. Tomorrow I might get to the rest of this room…
